No to Halloween

Today I am grateful for waking up in the morning and for the pizza and coffee for breakfast; for being able to go to work and have the privilege to help others. I am grateful for my senses to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. I am simply grateful.

be happy then.

"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content." -Philippians 4:11

So...shoot the moon!

I'm sharing my happy song! I feel so light each time I listen to it. Maybe because it sounds so dreamy and makes me think of different seasons. It's a perfect song whenever I am driving in the countryside.

Have a dream-filled AND dream-fulfilled week everyone ;)

On Servanthood

Today I am grateful for God's love and forgiveness. Lord, may it be the only desire of my heart to do what is pleasing to You. May You bless the coming week especially for the ones I love and for those who have no one to pray for them and in great need of your divine love and mercy. Amen.

Of Fights & Devotions

Today I am grateful that whenever me and my husband have disagreements and misunderstandings, it results in a deeper love & understanding between us. :)

Tip: Never go to bed angry!

For Saturday Travels, I am sharing a picture of the Minore Basilica del Sto. Nino in Cebu, Philippines.

The church, where the image of the miraculous Holy Child Jesus is kept, was built in 1739
Devotion to the Sto. Nino is very dear to us Cebuanos.

The outside prayer grounds for the thousands of devotees who visit the church every year

Merci Jeudi!

Today I am grateful I will be moving  to a 2-bedroom apartment next week! I am so excited to apply my interior decorating talent ;) hehe! The great thing about this place is that it is walking distance to shops, restaurants, a park, and a car wash (not that we will be walking to wash our car hahaha!) It is also 5 mins away to/from my office and the church. Plus there's more! We will also be nearer places like Savannah and St. Augustine. Sigh! Truly this is a wonderful blessing. God, you did not fail to grant the desires of my heart, again :)

A preview of the neighborhood :)

Thursdays or "Jeudi"  will be anything related to French. My infatuation with the French culture or all things French began when I watched the movie Amelie. Today it so happened that I discovered another movie by Audrey Tautou entitled Beautiful Lies. It is funny but I don't think it compares to Amelie. I LOVE Audrey's red lipstick, red fingernails, and her SBD & red shoes at the end of movie. Oh so chic!

Today for the Occupational Therapy spotlight, I would like to share some information about energy conservation techniques, the OT way.

Energy Conservation is defined as "any technique, device or practical strategy that you can implement that will keep you from spending more energy on daily activities that take away the joy of life." - Grace Young

No more nut-hoarding

Here are a few tips:
  • Pace activities and spread them throughout the day/week.
  •  Plan the day in advance so that you won’t feel rushed.
  •  Break up tasks into small steps and rest in between.
  • Delegate tasks to other people if possible.
  • Do not rush! Rest before becoming exhausted.
  • Learn to let go of guilt caused by not finishing a task due to fatigue. There are other days.
  • Organize your workspace.
  • Alternate easy and difficult tasks.

St. Jude Thaddeus

Today I am grateful for mistakes. If we don't make them, we don't learn :)

Today's featured saint is St. Jude Thaddeus, one of Jesus' 12 disciples. He is known as the saint for desperate cases. When I was in college, me and my friends would often ask for his help especially when it comes to passing extremely difficult exams.  Thank you for your prayers, St. Jude.  :)

St. Jude Thaddeus - Feast Day is October 28

O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of. Come to mine assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour thee as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to thee. Amen.

Proverbs 31

Today I am grateful for God's wisdom. I pray I will always be a woman who fears the Lord; who seeks His Guidance at all times. For without God, my life is nothing.

The Woman Who Fears the Lord

An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
    She seeks wool and flax,
        and works with willing hands.
    She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
        and portions for her maidens.
    She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
    She dresses herself with strength
        and makes her arms strong.
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
    She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
    She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
    Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
    “Many women have done excellently,
        but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:10-31

Declutter Day

Today I am grateful for weekends :) I had a tiring week but nevertheless, I was able to work, blog, and even attend a concert! Today I also started to "declutter" so whenever I will have to transfer to a new place, it will be easier and with less hassle.

Thursday Fun!

Today I am grateful for a safe drive along the interstate. I always get anxious when driving on the interstate because of the speed and traffic. But always with God's Guiding Hand and my guardian angel, me and my car are still fine :)

looking calm outside but jittery inside for the long drive

And also yesterday me and my friends went to an Enrique Iglesias concert. I was so thrilled to see him perform. I'm showing below highlights of the event. Happy weekend!!!

St. Joseph

Today I am grateful God has shown me an idea on how to make my blog more "organized". Each day I will have one single topic to focus on. Monday will be about songs and Tuesdays will be about saints. I have always been interested in reading the lives of saints. They are always a source of inspiration. Stay tuned tomorrow, Wednesday, for my next topic!

Today's featured saint is my favorite saint, St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. I have always felt St. Joseph's meek and gentle guidance in my life. I often ask him to help me pray for my father and my husband. He is also the saint who gives me comfort knowing I can call unto him whenever the fear of death or dying grips my heart. To know more about him, please copy/paste the link below :)

Our God is Greater - Chris Tomlin

Yesterday I was so grateful I received comments in my blog!!! I was so giddy with joy and excitement when I saw the comments from very gracious people :) I am still new to the "blogland" so it was really amazing for me knowing people read my posts! Thank you so much, Miss Susan, Miss Martha, and Miss Chatty! I will do my best to make my blog better, especially posts that are pleasing to God.

Today I am grateful for songs of worship. No better song to start the work week other than a worship song :) Have a beautiful and blessed week everyone!

Fruitfulness

Today I am grateful for a set of audio cd's that I was able to borrow. It is called Fruitfulness by Keith Moore. I listen to it when going to work. It is wonderful that God has provided this for me so I can grow more in knowing Him. I will surely keep listening to it and am planning even to request my own copies. I realize through the talks that our life here on earth is just a blink of an eye compared to eternity. How we spend our life here, is how we will spend eternity. If my life is spent in useless work, then what good is my life. The most important question I can ask myself everyday is "Am I spending my life being fruitful in God's vineyard?" Almighty Jesus, please help me fulfill what you want me to do here on earth so that I may bring glory to You and the Father.

truly grateful for having listened to this

Special Saturday

Today I am grateful for our 3rd Church wedding anniversary. Though, me and my husband are far away from each other to celebrate this occasion, I will make the most of this special day.
I started the day by reading my Godwhispers email, preparing breakfast for me and my friend, taking a walk around the neighborhood, and doing documentation paperwork. I simply greeted my husband, "Happy wedding anniv, babe...Church one." Which he replied with "Happy anv to you too love, me only one." We are goofy this way. :D

Apple

Today I am grateful for the gift of technology. Today I also learned that Steve Jobs passed away. I just wanna dedicate this post to a man who had used his God given talents to create products of excellence. Thank you, Mr. Jobs. I think you are very cool! I am also adopted and my birthday is also on 2/24 :)

I don't have any Mac products but here is me and my friends in front of Apple, NY

Find Time to Delight

Today I am grateful for the moments I took to stop and delight in God's creation. I literally had to stop my car and enjoyed taking the pictures below. No matter how busy I can get, everyday I need to find time to pause and be with nature. It is such a great stress-reliever :)

September Summary

Today I am grateful for September. It had been a tough month for me; I felt so disoriented and almost in turmoil about how things were going. My husband was still not sure when he was coming and our application for Canada was getting more evasive than ever. But today I reflected that although two major things that I have been wishing for and praying for have not come to fruition yet, beautiful things have come my way & delighted my heart! All is well :)

my collection is increasing ;)
a van gogh "painting" and a full length mirror from thrift shops

precious moments figurine as a gift from one of my patients
i heart NY shirt gift from a friend
...and last but not the least, a heart-shaped mushroom from God Himself :)
